Materials

The foundation of every Nobody’s Child piece is the materials we choose. We’re intentional with the fabrics we use and prioritise certified organic cotton, recycled fibres, and responsibly managed forestry – always aiming to reduce environmental impact without compromising quality or style.

To keep ourselves accountable and drive progress every season, we developed a Materials Matrix – a tool that helps us grade and track the fibres we use, guiding our material choices and set clear targets.

We’re also committed to material innovation, investing in research and partnering with pioneering suppliers to trial future-facing fibres that help us stay ahead.

This page is your go-to guide to discover the fabrics behind our collections and why we choose them.

Organic Cotton

We love using organic cotton to avoid chemical pesticides and help protect farmer and ecosystem health. Nobody's Child is certified to Global Organic Textile Standard and Organic Content Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.

Recycled Cotton

We’re working on using more recycled cotton in our collections, to help give a new life to old fibres and reduce dependence on new material production. We source certified recycled cotton to verify chain of custody. Nobody’s Child is certified to Global Recycled Standard and Recycled Claim Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.

Regenerative Cotton

We’re also exploring regenerative cotton to go beyond pesticide avoidance and work with soil and ecosystem health. We have big plans to work directly with regenerative cotton farmers and meet the people who grow our cotton.

deadstock

Deadstock is unused, surplus fabric that is no longer needed for production. As part of our commitment to circularity, we try to incorporate these fabrics into our collections to divert materials from entering waste streams and reduce dependence on new material production.

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Viscose

LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests. The wood taken from nature is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource. These fibres are derived from controlled or certified wood sources.LENZING™ and ECOVERO™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG.

TENCEL™ Lyocell

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers are made from wood, a natural and renewable raw material carefully sourced from responsibly managed forests. The wood taken from nature is purposefully balanced with forest growth rates, to ensure the continued availability of this valuable resource. These fibres are derived from controlled or certified wood sources. TENCEL™ is a trademark of Lenzing AG.

Birla Livaeco™

Manmade cellulosics (MMCFs) are soft and versatile plant-based fibres. Birla Livaeco fibres are made from wood pulp certified to be from controlled forestry and are one of our preferred man-made cellulosic fibres.

Recycled Polyester and Nylon

We prioritise the use of recycled polyester and nylon in our collections, helping to give a new life to old fibres and reduce dependence on new material production. Nobody’s Child is certified to Global Recycled Standard and Recycled Claim Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.

RWS Wool

To ensure strict animal welfare, land management and social standards are maintained, we prefer to use Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) Wool. Nobody’s Child is certified to the Responsible Wool Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.

Recycled Wool

Recycled wool (including cashmere) reduces dependence on the production of virgin materials and gives existing materials a new life. Nobody’s Child is certified to Global Recycled Standard and Recycled Claim Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.

Recycled Leather

To expand our accessories materials, we are exploring recycled leather. Recycled leather is made from pre- and post-consumer leather waste which has been reprocessed into a new material, reducing the associated environmental, social, and animal welfare impacts. As part of our commitment to source more innovative and next-gen materials, we plan on exploring bio-based leather alternatives. Nobody’s Child is certified to Recycled Claim Standard or Global Recycled Standard, certified by GCL International 303196.
